Featured Paintings

As an artist my paintings almost never feel like they are complete or done very well.  There are areas of the paintings that I think could have been done better or differently.  There is also a tendency to overwork a painting.  Once that is done it usually makes the painting worse.  After completing a painting I usually put it on a music stand in my living room and look at the painting many times over a weeks period just to see how the finished painting feels to me.

On a rare occasion I actually feel as if a painting is done as well as I could possibly have made it and truly like the finished product.  This section will include such paintings, ones that I like as well as paintings that others, mostly other artists, have deemed to be excellent paintings by winning an award.

As I was assembling this page I found it interesting that the paintings that have won awards all are based on building and or structures while my personal favorites are all Landscapes or Waterscapes.

A Few of My Favorite Paintings
Actually I have many favorites.  Perhaps I will rotate the images on this page with older paintings as well as newer paintings that become additional favorites.

Misty Morning                                                         #C138-1

One of my favorites.  I love the way the mist

is conveyed on the other side of the creek.

Rocky Coastline                                                      #C144-1

Inspired by a beautiful Hawaiian beach.

Who doesn't like a beautiful ocean view.

Tuscan Vineyard                                                    #DR2404

Tuscany Italy is lush and beautiful with rolling hills surrounded by vineyards and every hilltop seemingly having a winery perched on top.

11" x 15" Watercolor

Icy Strait Point Cannery                                      #C219-4

Inspired by a photograph I took while on an Alaskan cruise.  One of the ports-of-call was Icy Strait Point.  At one time, fishing was the big industry but has since all but disappeared.  The original cannery has been converted into a shopping opportunity and a museum.
